Kenny Berry was born and raised in Belle Glade, Florida.

His story is not unlike that of many of his peers growing up in this impoverished town: playing football in the muck of the sugarcane fields and chasing rabbits fleeing the fields at the end of the growing season. Throughout his youth, he played sports and was a standout athlete at Pahokee High School. There, Berry participated on several state championship teams at Pahokee including basketball and track. His individual awards include being named a High School All-American in football and All-State in track and basketball.

His athletic prowess was recognized by several universities and he eventually accepted a scholarship to play for Coach Jimmy Johnson at the University of Miami. During his time with the Canes, the team earned two National Championships. In 1990, Kenny was drafted in the 10th Round by the San Diego Chargers.

After finishing his football career in the National Football League, Kenny embarked into new directions whereby cultivating an untiring passion of working with young people in mentoring and developing young minds. Life after athletics included working for the State of Florida Juvenile Corrections Department for several years as a dorm supervisor. Berry worked for the Palm Beach County School District as a substitute teacher and later as a Life Skills Teacher.

Berry later served as the head football coach at Berean Christian School in West Palm Beach, FL. Not only did Berry create and develop the school’s first football team, but he was also recognized as one of Palm Beach County’s top football coaches. Kenny expanded his passion to serve through ministering the teaching of Jesus Christ. He enrolled in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a BS Degree in Theology.

Bishop Kenny Berry serves as the Senior Pastor of Grace Fellowship Worship Center in Belle Glade, Florida. His higher calling to serve inspired him to create the Grace for Life Youth Foundation.

The goal for the foundation is to strengthen the youth of today by positively impacting the world in all areas of life. The foundation strives to incorporate the five E’s of excellence: empower, enrich, encourage, exercise, educate. By implementing these principles each child will be equipped with the tools for life.

In March 2021, Kenny was voted to serve as City Commissioner, Seat E in the City of Belle Glade.
